It was that time of year again where Cardiff’s streets fills with the most bizarre outfits, costumes and characters, which can cause the most sane of us to do a double take. It was of course Comic-Con Cardiff, the film and comic convention.
Now, we may be Comic-Con newbies but have always had an interest of all things geek so jumped at the opportunity at having a table at this years event.Rather than just flyer and chat about our up and coming launch, we knocked up a challenge involving some Chinese puzzle style locks. We had 3 boxes to represent our 3 current game rooms; an antique box for Finding Sherlock, a mini safe for The Heist and as near as we could get to a mini sarcophagus to represent The Tomb games.
With 6 minutes on the clock players had to unlock as many boxes as they could. We had nearly 100 players take up the challenge over the weekend. From lock-picking enthusiasts to retired badge collectors, everyone had a go. To be fair to them all, these locks aren’t the easiest to open and even less so when you have 6 minutes to open all three, with an audience. Some spent the full 6 minutes fumbling away and coming away with sore fingers and while others smashed it and nailed all 3 with a casual 3 minutes to go!
